The East Cooper Faith Networks Fix It! Initiative will be hosting a meeting on June 26th, 6:00 pm, at the Seacoast Church in Mt. Pleasant to discuss how individuals, faith groups, government and non-profit organizations can work together to help low income families in our area with home repairs.  This is part of an affordable housing effort for those who are at or below the poverty level stay in their homes rather than having to move due to unsafe living conditions.  Projects such as ramp builds, roofing, and other work will discussed to see how we can collaborate towards helping these families stay in their homes.

This meeting is the second gathering of these groups to form processes and lines of communication so that organizations, big or small, can participate in this mission to serve those in need of safe and healthy housing.  The first meeting was designed to pull people and organizations together to form the purpose; to collectively work together to help provide safe and healthy living conditions in our community where substandard situations exist.

In addition, ideas for action were discussed such as creating a database of homes in need, enlisting commercial construction and developers into the effort, working with local government to support this endeavor as well as ensure municipalities are included.

This meeting will dig deeper into the issues and develop action plans for collaboration, funding, and interaction between nonprofits and government agencies in the East Cooper and other areas.
